Heineken - Case Study

Heineken is one of the largest global producers of beer, with over 150 breweries around the world. Heineken's Brewery in Seville, Spain, produces brands like as Amstel, Cruzcampo, Heineken, and Desperados. From this brewery the beers are brewed, packaged, and dispatched throughout the entire country and beyond. Juan Padilla González, Packaging Manager at Heineken has helped implemented Ultimaker 3D printers to increase efficiency and up-time at the Seville brewery.

Optimising the manufacturing line

Producing over 500 million litres of beer per year, Heineken was investigating new methods to improve their production efficiency, which lead them to the possibilities of 3D printing.

The team set goals to improve the manufacturing process in terms of uptime, production output, and OHS. They set up a 3D printing lab fitted with a number of Ultimaker S5s and quickly realised that 3D printing gives them the speed and flexibility they were after, while still being cost-effective and quick to implement.

Juan Padilla González said that after implementing 3D printing into their production workflow, they are already seeing a reduction of costs in the applications that they identified by 70 - 90%, as well as decreasing delivery time by up to 70 - 90%.
