*** UPDATE 11th May 2018***
Please note that new versions of the print core do not have silicon rings.
"The silicone nozzle ring has been removed from the nozzle of the print cores. The groove in the nozzle to fixate the silicone nozzle ring will also be removed on a short term. This applies to the print cores that come with the printer, as well as print cores that were purchased separately. This change is implemented to make the print cores compatible with the Ultimaker S5. Due to the nozzle cover of the Ultimaker S5, the front fan bracket will not close properly if the silicone nozzle ring is around the nozzle. On the Ultimaker 3, the silicone nozzle ring helps to close the seal between the nozzle and the silicone cover. However, R&D has decided the risk of removing the ring is negligible.
The print cores still function exactly the same on the Ultimaker 3. Customers can use the new print cores in the same way as the old ones that did include the silicone nozzle ring. Print cores with and without silicone nozzle rings can both be used on the Ultimaker 3."
