PET-CF or PETG CF?
PET-CF is a true engineering-grade filament meant for high-strength, high-temperature industrial use, whereas PETG-CF is an entry-level composite designed for ease of use, everyday functional parts, and a clean aesthetic. Here is a direct breakdown of how they compare across key categories:
Thermal & Mechanical Performance
-
PET-CF: With an industrial heat deflection temperature of 205 °C, this material can easily handle heavy load-bearing structural industrial tasks without creeping or deforming. It is exceptionally rigid. For More Details refer to Bambu Wiki
-
PETG-CF: Its heat resistance tops out around 74 °C. While it is twice as stiff as standard PETG, it will still soften in high-heat environments. However, it retains better overall impact toughness. For More Details Refer to Bambu PETG-CF
Printing Difficulty & Setup
-
PET-CF: Harder to print. It requires very high nozzle temperatures (260–290 °C), a hot bed (80–100 °C), and actively requires an enclosed printer to prevent warping. You must bake/dry it at 80 °C for 8–12 hours before printing. For More Details refer to Bambu Wiki
-
PETG-CF: Highly optimised and forgiving. It prints at cooler temperatures (240–270 °C), warps significantly less, and features a formula tweaked by Bambu to actively prevent the clumping or stringing typical of normal PETG. It can be dried at a milder 65 °C. For More Details Refer to Bambu PETG-CF
Hardware Limitations
-
PET-CF: Cannot be used in the Automatic Material System (AMS). The filament is so stiff and brittle raw that it will fracture inside the internal AMS feeding tubes. You must print it from a standalone spool holder or external dry box. For More Details refer to Bambu Wiki
-
PETG-CF: Fully AMS compatible and includes an RFID tag for automatic setting recognition in Bambu Studio. For More Details Refer to Bambu PETG-CF
